During Dancing Once Upon a Time CAMP (DOT), campers will be totally immersed in bringing stories to life on stage. A unique experience for children ages 6 – 18
One year Dance Experience of ANY STYLE is required for camp!
Everyone with one year of dance, in any style, is Welcome!
Dance is the main focus of our show but everyone will have another role to play in building the show. Aspects such as set design and construction, costume design and build, make-up, and narration will be done by the dancers SO THAT they will have beautiful ownership of the show, building skills and confidence throughout the week that will be with them always.
What is Dancing Once Upon a Time?

Dancing Once Upon a Time: History
In 2018, during our end of year Showcase, we brought Little Red Riding Hood to life through Irish dance. It was such a hit that we expanded to a full out show of three stories bringing back Red Riding Hood and introducing the Pied Piper and the Three Billy Goats Gruff to the stage. This show, ‘Dancing Once Upon a Time,’ sold out in 2019. We had hoped to make this a bi-annual show. In 2021, due to Covid restrictions, there were some shifts made in our practice and show times. Eventually we performed the show about 8 months after planned but the show did go on! (It was quite emotional.) That second show brought; The Three Little Pigs, 5 Green and Speckled Frogs, and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice to life!
“Dancing Once Upon a Time is just so much fun! I never want to miss it”
Siobhan, dancer aged 8
Dancing Once Upon a Time: NOW
Tir na nOg has decided the best way to continue forward with ‘Dancing Once Upon a Time’ is to pivot to a CAMP format rather than within the frame of dancing weekly. This change means campers will be fully immersed in the choreography, set design and construction of the show bringing them more ownership, accomplishment, and community. This also allows us to open up the boundaries and include other various disciplines of dance. (Ballet, tap, swing etc.)
